Carpathians, as usual had another different defence, including a stand in keeper, thanks to
J. Youngs for volunteering.
As a consequence, Carpathians found themselves 3-0 down by half-time. The first after 6 minutes resulted from an attempted clearance which hit a Martham striker and rebounded into the net, the second on 23 minutes when Carpathians failed to clear the ball from their area despite numerous attempts.
Martham's third resulted from a ball across Carpathians own defence intercepted and put away on 31 minutes.
Carpathians did have a few half chances but did not take advantage.
In the second half Carpathians began to work as a unit again and thought they had pulled a goal back when R. Barnes headed in from a corner, sadly off-side. Carpathians continued to press but ended going further behind with a soft goal. Finally, Carpathians pressure was rewarded when RICHARD BARNES scored on 59 minutes after some good approach work.
The defence worked overtime as Martham broke when Carpathians surged forward. More chances were created but only had an OWEN BEEVOR goal in the last minute to show for it.
After a sluggish start with more new players Carpathians settled down to play some decent football but by then the damage had been done.
