CARPATHIANS 4 - 2 Gorleston Albion

Our first Sunday team friendly of the season brings us to Gorleston Albion from division 2. The game started well and caught Albion off guard when NATHAN MARSHALL scored for Carpathians on 3mins from a good through ball from Sam Jones. Eight minutes later Jimmy Youngs was fouled in the area. Rory Cameron stepped forward to take the penalty but unfortunately missed. The team battled well which resulted in a goal from JIMMY YOUNGS on 13mins after his first attempt rebounded off their keeper.

After a few close calls from Albion and with a free kick on 25mins Carpathians held strong, Carpathians again pressured well with good through balls from Daniel Saunders and Clint Nelson to Vinny Sharp but just could not finish, until another goal from NATHAN MARSHALL on 34mins when he lobbed the keeper which he got his hands to, but then dropped it behind the line. Carpathians going out at half time 3-0 up.

The second half started with a repeat of the first but this time the tables were turned when Albion scored on 48mins. Carpathians were beginning to tire in the heat and were not tracking back. More chances again for both teams until PAUL GOODSON scored on 75mins with a power shot from midfield. Albion pressured hard with only one of our defenders tracking back but fortunately his shot went wide. Albion were still not giving up which resulted in a goal on 88mins. Final score Carpathians 4 – 2 Gorleston Albion. A good overall game and performance but we must release the ball quicker and not try to take on every player.
